Mr. Edward Akinlade

A distinguished professional and leader with extensive experience in management, finance and real estate development.

Mr. Edward Olanrewaju Akinlade, born on 3 April 1965, is a distinguished professional and leader with extensive experience in management, finance and real estate development. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).

He earned his MBA from the London School of Business Studies in 2010 and completed his CIMA qualification at the London School of Accountancy, also in 2010. He holds a National Diploma in Business Administration from Lagos State Polytechnic (College of Science & Technology) and obtained his General Certificate of Education at Western College of Commerce, Lagos.

Mr. Akinlade began his career at South East Business Services (1993–1999), then worked with Best Value Associates, seconded to Alpha Merchant Bank in London (1999–2003), where he served as Head of Treasury. He later served as Managing Director at Lambro Limited, London (2003–2006), before becoming Group Managing Director of Suru Group Limited in 2007.

He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Haldane McCall Plc (formerly Haldane McCall Nigeria Limited), which owns subsidiaries including Suru Express Hotels Limited and Suru Homes Limited. He is also Chairman of Prolific Microfinance Bank Limited.

An astute real estate professional and property developer, Mr. Akinlade specialises in high-end commercial and residential property development. His expertise lies in identifying prime property locations and overseeing successful developments both locally and internationally. He pioneered cooperative upscale luxury housing in Nigeria and played a critical role in the development of major hospitality projects, including bringing the US five-star hotel brand Best Western Plus to Ikeja, Lagos.

Mr. Akinlade has made significant contributions to the hospitality industry across the West African sub-region and has demonstrated outstanding leadership on numerous boards. His expertise in property finance, project implementation and strategic advisory continues to drive the success of his ventures and of the industry as a whole.
