Biography

Business, board service and community

A self-made businessman and philanthropist — who built a service company of repute from a single idea, and now brings that same discipline to the boardroom.

Sir Adewole Farinu was born on 16 December 1965 in Oyo, to Chief Samson Adepoju Farinu and Deaconess Christiana Olufunmilayo Farinu. He attended Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo, before travelling to the United States for university — earning a B.A. in Economics from the State University of New York, College of Buffalo in 1986, and an MBA from the University of New Haven, Connecticut in 1990. He also holds a Diploma in Public Speaking and Inter-Personal Management from Dale Carnegie, USA.

He began his career in operations, leading diverse teams across competitive industries and fast-paced environments. That track record took him into management, and in 1998 he founded his own company — Wolban Enterprises Limited — which has since grown into a world-class service company with an impressive portfolio and several blue-chip clients. The franchise expanded in 2007 with the addition of Wolban Travels, now a leading travel service company in Nigeria.

Sir Farinu is CEO of Wolban Enterprises, a Director of Wolban Travels, and also serves as a Director of Prolific Microfinance Bank. Since 2024 he has served as a Non-Executive Director of Haldane McCall Plc, sitting on the Board of the NGX-listed real estate and hospitality group. In May 2025, at the Company's First Annual General Meeting, he was appointed to represent the Board on the Statutory Audit Committee for the 2025 audit year.

Beyond business, Sir Farinu is active in civic and professional life — a member of the Institute of Directors, Nigeria, and past Chairman of the Rotary Club of Gbagada District 9110. In August 2026 he was installed as the second President of the Rotary Club of Minimah Estate for the 2026-2027 Rotary Year, pledging to focus on maternal and child healthcare, education and community development. In May 2019 he was awarded the Knight of John Wesley (KJW) — the highest honour the Methodist Church confers on a layperson.

He is married to Lady Adetunji Farinu, a travel consultant and CEO of Wolban Travels. They have two children. An avid sports fan who played football at university level, he also enjoys reading and travelling.
