Mr. Yunusa Mshelia has a BSc. Physics from the University of Jos, 1982. In 1983 he enlisted into the Nigerian Navy Naval Engineering Department and was sent for the Marine Engineer Artificer course in the UK at The Marine Engineering School, Sultan, UK.

He has worked at the Nigerian Navy Survey and Hydrography ship for sea training, the German company BLOHM +VOSS, Nigerian Navy Flag Ship, NNS ARADU where he served till 1998. He rose to the rank of ERA 1 (Engine Room Artificer Class 1). He later became the overall engine room chief in 1997. Places he has worked also include NUL ( Nigeria Unity Line ) the Nigeria Shipping Line as the Technical Assistant to the MD/CEO, Head of Eastern Naval Command Fleet Support Group (FSG East) Workshop as CBM in charge of the repair of all the ships and patrol crafts in the Eastern Naval Command, Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC) headquarters as NBCD and Fire Fighting Instructor, also doubling as the Departmental Administrative Head.

Yunusa Mshelia retired from the Nigerian Navy in December 2011, as Chief Era, equivalent to NWO or RSM (Regimental Sargent Major) in the army.

After retirement, he started his security career with swift oil limited, as a Security and Safety Supervisor at their tank farm in the Kirikiri Industrial Area, Apapa in 2012. He attended the American organized Port Facility Security Officers (PFSO) course in April 2014 and was elevated to Security and Safety Manager and deployed to the oil rig in Kwale, Delta state in the same year. He was promoted GM Security and Safety at Chorus Energy in 2016. He served in the oil field in that capacity until 2018 when he resigned from the Company. He joined Suru Group Limited as General Manager, Security in February 2020.
